I wouldn't remove such markup if you've got it deployed successfully but personally I wouldn't invest in it for any new cases. It was a type of search feature that required very specific content and markup, and without any search feature support I don't see any reason to keep investing in that markup. Unless maybe if such content attracts lots of visitors to a site. Although than I'd probably just stick with the actual content template but wouldn't necessarily create any marup for it any longer.
